In 2008, American Express wanted to launch a new credit card. One that earned their Cardmembers significant discounts on any travel deal they found -- no matter how, where or when they booked. To grab some attention, we developed a sitelet that drove home this key feature of Blue Sky, the "endless choice" in travel, in a highly engaging way.
Through fluid interactivity, users could create a "dream trip" from a seemingly infinite set of travel possibilities -- literally plucking them out of the sky. Once they submitted their chosen combination, a destination-specific (and amusingly kitschy) response was generated, complete with sound, graphics -- and of course, a strong reinforcement of Blue Sky's value proposition. For users who wanted to learn even more about the Card, the site included additional product information, served up in a way that took full advantage of the medium.
