The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman
(circa 2004)

A new (at the time) milestone in American Express’ ongoing efforts to bring branded entertainment online, the Seinfeld & Superman “Webisodes” were created to promote the American Express Card in a hilariously unexpected way. No one even called it "Branded Entertainment" back then.

We developed an interactive site to showcase the videos (created by Ogilvy & Mather and Barry Levinson), using Jerry Seinfeld's fictitious living room as the backdrop for the experience. Creative nuances such as a functional clock and a working fireplace (this was really cool at the time) lent a simplistic realism to the room without detracting from the main feature.

The best part is having to pick which speed internet you had!

Viewers could watch the films, and also interact with easter eggs hidden around the room. The answering machine had messages from characters from the videos. The windows in the background would reflect the time of day you were visiting the site, and if you got scared of the dark, clicking the Superman nightlight would turn the lights back on.

That's right. We had e-cards.

Oh Yes, Wyoming!

As an easter egg, we thought it would be fun to have a sing-a-long version of an original song that was featured in one of the webisodes. The University of Wyoming got wind of it and asked for permission to license and play it at all their sporting events. Give it a listen. Its catchy.
